Thank you to everyone for all the awesome gifts for our baby boy! We got everthing we needed, and some stuff just for fun too! We feel so blessed to have such wonderful people in our life and we cant wait for Reef to meet all of you!

I will be slowly coming back to work in the next two weeks! I am so excited to see all my dancers... I have missed you all!!!! Thanks to all those who have filled in for me in so I could stay home with Reef and recover.

Christmas Performances

I am so proud of all my dancers!!! The progress this semester has been really amazing. I am especially happy with the focus on memorization that has been put forth. As you all know, my baby boy is expected to come pretty much any time after Thanksgiving. This may cause me to miss a show or two depending on his timing. Please know that I feel confident in putting all my classes on stage, even in the event of my absense. I feel very blessed to have such amazing co-workers that have been willing to fill in for me if I cant be there. Thank you for your support durring my pregnancy... I have the best students/partents ever!!! That being said, I hope to be able to attend as much as physically possible!

Here is the schedule for all:

Higher Ground:
In Class Performances
-Monday Nov 30th: 10-11am Ballet, 2:15-3:15pm Ballet
-Wed Dec 2nd: 10-10:30am Combo
-Thurs Dec 3rd: 9:30-10:30am Combo

We will have seating in the studio for guests to watch our entire class! We will hold a modified class to show you what we haved learned, perform the Christmas dance, and then have a little party. Please being a treat to share at the end of class. I will provide a bag for each dancer. Treats do not need to be food- it can be anything! If you do choose to bring an editable snack, please make sure it is individually wrapped as we cannot eat in the studio. Cameras welcome!!!!

HG Christmas Recital:

This applies only to Musical Theater. Unfortunately I will not be able to come to this show. I will either be a home with a new baby, or I will be in Globe for another recital. I am a company teacher at Lynn's and thus my help is much needed if able. Thanks for the understanding!

So many of you have been asking me if its really my birthday this weekend and even though I've been lying YES its my birthday this Saturday. I'm feeling pretty old because I realized that I'm now closer to 25 than to 20! But I guess that's ok since I'm gonna be a mamma soon. Thanks for all the fun gifts and cards so far!!!! I will be enjoying my whole birthday weekend relaxing at my parents house.... well as relaxed as it gets over there anyway. I'll post some pics and details later this week.

Practice CDs

I have already stocked up on Practice CDs for all those who would like to purchase one. Practice Cds are primarily for those students enrolled in Combo (ages 2-7) and Ballet but I can pretty much make a practice cd for anyone. Each cd contains the Al Gilbert Tap & Ballet practice songs from warm up through tech based off the level/age of your dancer as well as all the fun songs that we use in class. I also offer Princess Ballet PCDs for those who only take Ballet. This cd includes the Ballet instructional songs we dance to as well as fun princess music for dancing at home.

Practice Cds are a great way to get involved in your dancer's learning and of course to practice what we learn in class at home. It helps your dancer to memorize the songs we use and therefore learn the proper vocabulary for each dance step. Plus its lots of fun!!!!

Practice Cds are only $5 and are personalized for each dancer. Practice cds can be pre-ordered so that I can bring it for you the next class. Unfortunately, because I made and gave out quite a few cds last year that were never paid for, I can only give you your cd after payment is made in full. Find me before or after class for an order form!

Friday Tech Classes

Just a reminder to all my Globe Master/Elite girlies... if you are planning on coming to take the friday tech classes at the Mesa Studio and need a place to stay, I'm able to host up to 6 people for $5 per night. This will help me to pay for the extra water/electicity.... but is still WAY WAY WAY cheaper than a hotel. Even if its last minute just text or call me. I'd be happy to have you on a regular basis!!!!

Dancing Sisters

So this week was probably the craziest day of my life! (I say this knowing that next week will probably top it) Just to give you an idea I had Picture Week in all my Higher Ground morning ballet/tap, and baby classes.... yes that's right- all 3 classes together -17 to be exact. We had rehearsal on stage in Globe Tues and Thurs. Then Friday after not getting into my bed from the madness of Thurs til after 1am, it was get a house and then drive back to Globe day!!! (But I did get to drive the boss's Tahoe which is also a bonus!) Friday my Globe girls performed at the Relay for Life and did great... but it was SO SO SO HOT! You can check out the sunburn on my legs for proof. I spent the night in Globe then we had our 2 shows today which was followed by running to my car and hurrying back to the valley... or so I thought. There was some sorta acciedent which shut off power in like half the city and I couldn't get gas since the pumps are electronic. So I had to do some crazy fast (but safe Mom) driving to get the Chandler show. I pulled up at 5 til and just made the curtain call!

Yes..... I am as tired as you think! lol

So the brunt of all of this is that tonight my sister has their recital in Safford. And I had to miss it! I almost turned around after the first gas station... I thought "wow, this would be the perfect excuse to miss my show!" But then I thought of my little dancers and just coudn't do it.

So to my beautiful sisters I'd like to say.... Sorry for missing your show. I know that you did great. You are both such amazing dancers and I am so proud of you! This is Krysta's last show, which made it even harder for me to miss. I've been there... I know that feeling sis, when the curtain closes and you realize that this is the last time you will be on that stage. Its strange. I so wanted to be there to give you the biggest hug ever. But then again, you're not really a baby about that kinda stuff like I am, so I hope you got a chance to stare out at the empty seats and feel great about what's to come! I hope your little dancers did great. I'm sure they did with a teacher like you!!! I hope you had a chance to give them all a big hug and take in that special love that they have for you!
Shay- WOW! I hear such wonderful things about you. You are so talented and I just can't believe how grown up you are! I remember your first recital in company... you kept coming into the choir room to sit with me and Krysta. I used to think it was because you were nervous, but as you've gotten older I know that its just because that's where you belong! I know it sounds so corney but I can't imagine not having you around- especially when I think of dance! You are becoming a great dancer and teacher and I can't wait for the many shows ahead!

I know that it probably sounds really lame or fake to those of you who dont know my sisters, but who know me well, but they are the best!!!! I think they are probably the opposite of me in all the best ways and I'm always trying to be more like them! They are caring and sweet and quiet in a way that's not even possible for me. They can dance with the best of em, and they are truly special to me and to their studio family. I wish I could've been there tonight, but I know that you girls will still love me! Thanks for being who you are!!!!

Recital Time

To all those who have already had your recitals today, EXCELLENT!!!! I am so proud of you. My Globe girls put on 2 wonderful shows today and I couldn't be happier with the results. And my Chandler Jeanne's girls had their show this evening. They all did so well. To all those who were stage moms- THANK YOU!! The help you give to take care of my dancers really helps me to enjoy the show at a much lower stress level. ( I know, you're thinking stress, nah, not miss whitney! HA HA)

To my Higher Ground dancer- good luck this Friday! Its going to be great!!!! I can't wait. A big THANKS in advance to my stage moms- being the only baby teacher really makes me rely on you all and I know that I can count on your help! THANKS THANKS THANK!!!

Mesa Jeannes- I'm so sad that I have to miss your show! But I know you will do an amazing job! Remember to look at the audience, smile big and .... you know it.... WORK IT OUT!!! A special thanks to Carrie Claypool for holding down the fort and fillin my shoes while I'm gone.

And a super extra huge HUG and THANKS to Miss Victoria- She is my assitant teacher for all my Jeanne's classes. She filled in for me during the Chandler Dress Rehearsal so that I could be in Globe and will be being me for the Mesa recital. Thank you so much for all you do.... I really really reaaaaallllly couldn't do it without you. You have grown so much this year and I have really enjoyed watching you become a great teacher and dancer! You're the best! xoxox Whit

Practice Cds

Just wanted to let you all know that I have chosen and cut all of my recital music. If you would like to purchase a regular practice cd with your dancer's appropriate practice material it is $4.00. In addition I will be selling recital cds for $2.00. If you'd like to get a regular pracitce cd with your dancer's recital music added to it, it will be $5.00. The reason for price difference is simply that I do my music splicing myself and copyright each piece. I pay a monthly subscription to be a memeber online and am charged a per copy fee. Thanks for your understanding on this. Please remember that practice cds are NOT manadatory, but I strongly recommend purchasing one as it will help your dancer to memorize her music. Thanks!

Year End Recitals

Just FYI the dates have been set for our year end recitals! Some of you have already recieved the little hand out but if not, be looking for it this week. I have printed out a paper with the DATE & LOCATION of each recital as well as what tights, shoes, and other items your dancer will need to have for the show. I hope that by giving you this ample notice that everyone will have time to budget for these things (though most everyone is already set with what they need) Please refer to your studio newletter for costume deposit and balances if you have not yet paid these. Hello everyone! I hope that you are having a wonderful holiday break. Hopefully you have found time to relax and enjoy your familes. I am so pleased with our in class performances and holiday recitals. I am so proud of all my dancers and thankful to all of you committed parents who supported them. I am home now from my holiday vacation so I will be posting all my pictures as soon as I get a chance. If you have any to add, please email them to me. To my Sat parents- Again thanks for making the best of my absence. Victoria had a good report and was very appriciative of your help. Thank you for your understanding. Also, a big THANK YOU to all those who gave me gifts. They were all so thoughtful.
Just wanted to remind you all that classes will resume on Monday Jan. 5th. As far as I know, our class schedules will remain the same for Spring, with the possible (still undecided) exception of my Thursday 7:15pm & 8:15pm Clogging and Tumbling in Queen Creek. Jeanne has been out of her shop for the holidays, but I am planning on meeting with her asap. Thanks again for your understanding on this matter.

Higher Ground: Christmas Skirts

Christmas Skirts: Just a reminder that if your dancer is in my Mon Ballet or Wed/ Thurs Combo classes at Higher Ground we have order a red skirt for your dancer. Payment is due to either myself or Jheri by the end of this week. Please either include it with your tuition and be sure to specify that you have done so on your tuition slip or simply bring in $5 cash to class.Your dancer will wear this for our in class performance and then get to keep it. If you do include it into your tuition, please let me know so I can mark you off the list to ensure that there is no confusion when we pass them out. Thanks!

With the holiday season is upon us, I just want to say thanks to all of you for the blessings that you bring to my life. I enjoy teaching your children and I am so thankful each of them! Please take the time to read this newsletter carefully as it contains important information for the coming weeks. Food Drive: I am so happy about the response I have gotten regarding the Dancing for Christmas Dinner Food Drive! I am thrilled to announce that there will be 15 dance studios/gyms helping me collect canned goods to donate. I will be posting a finalized list of all the locations that you can bring your donations to. Thanks for the support!

Advertisements: With the holidays just around the corner, I would like to extend an invitation to anyone who would like to advertise in the Dec newsletter. (Dec newsletters will be emailed by 12/05/08) Whether it be items to purchase, dining & shopping suggestions, or a regular business advertisement - anything that will help to make the holidays go a little more smoothly or help you get your business name out around the valley! Please email me your advertisement along with contact info NO LATER THAN 12/01/08. I have over 200 students across the valley, so this is a great way to let people know about your business so please take advantage of this great opportunity to reach future costumers!!!

Christmas Recitals: If your dancer is one of my classes at USA Youth Fitness or AZ Desert Dance your Christmas recital will be held on Sat. Dec 20th at the Queen Creek Performing Art Center. Tickets are now on sale. If your dancer is in one of my classes at Jeanne’s School of Dance in Chandler, Mesa, or Queen Creek or Higher Ground Dance studio then you will not have a Christmas recital. Instead you will have an in class performance. (See below)

Holiday In-Class Performances: Your dancer is now learning a Christmas dance to perform for you in class at our Holiday Party! Visitors including parents, siblings, extended family and friends are invited to attend your dancer’s class the last week of classes before the holiday break. Please be on the look-out for emails and notes about what your dancer will be wearing and other important details. Treats to share at the end of class are welcome. Please remember that everything needs to be individually wrapped and I will provide bags for each dancer. If your dancer has any food allergies, let me know asap so I notify the other parents of your class. Look for the exact date and time for your dancer in the Dec Newsletter.

Tap Ties: I have just finished stocking up my Tap Ties shop!!! These elastic ties are hand crafted and come in 2 Collections: Pretty, Pretty Princess and Sunshine -N- Summertime. Each collection has several styles that are sure to please any dancer! Food Drive: Please Donate!!!

The older I get, the less receiving at Christmas becomes important to me. I have decided to stop "sitting on the bench" and do something good this year. I have been pondering about what I could possibly do that would make a difference for someone in a big way. With extremely limited funds and time its been hard to find something that would do the trick. With a little inspiration from an article in the paper the other day, I have decided to do a "Dancing for Christmas Dinner Food Drive." I'm setting a goal to gather at least 500 cans of food to donate to a food bank before Christmas. Along with this I will be organizing a "Dance-athon" with money pledges and donations to donate to a local Christmas Wish Foundation. If you have any canned goods or money that you would like to donate to this cause (even just 1 can and a couple bucks will make a huge difference) please contact me at wmajeman@live.com or simply bring your donation to me before or after class anytime! I will be sending out an email to everyone I know, but that is still not very many people...so please forward the message to as many people as you can! Although I am lucky enough to work at several places, I will be doing this on my own, so please do not take donations to any of the businesses I work at unless you are certain I'm there to take it. This is my tumbling class in the QC. L-R:Hannah, Meagan, Kristen, and Kaley. They are sisters and Hannah is their cousin, so they know everything about each other. This can make class pretty funny somethimes...as you can see. The class doesn't really have a set level, so we are able to focus on the things that they want to learn which is fun. Hannah likes to let me the story of her life. Meagan is always getting picked on by her big sisters. And of couse, they crack each other up and annoy the heck out of each other!!! They are the sweetest girls though, and I love teaching them!!!!!!!

Kaydence's Fish Friend

This is my Combo 2 class at Jeanne's in Chandler. L-R Kaydence, Isabella, Hayley, and Makayla. They are so halarious. I have them at 9am on Saturdays, so I'm usually really tired when I get to class. But it only takes about 10 seconds before one of them has said something to totally crack me up and start my day off with a smile. So the reason for this post is #1 because Hayley was gone on Halloween and I wanted to get a picture of her on my blog. #2 Kaydence's little fish friend. She has faithfully brought this little guy to class everyweek since she has been in my class. She comes in, puts her bag against the wall, and gets him out to watch. Now, most girls have baby dolls, Polly Pockets, Littlest Pet Shop animals, and every type of jewelry ever invented in their bags when they get to class without their mom's knowing that they just can't wait to show me and tell me all about. Not Kaydence. I'm not sure, but I think he is from a 25 cent machine because he, "Sleeps in his BUBBLE until I wake him up... and sometimes we play 'rolly ball' in his BUBBLE too!" says Kaydence. But what is so special and totally roll-on-the-ground-laughing funny about Kaydence's "Little Fish Friend" as she calls him is that he is acutally a dolphin. Maybe its "only a mother could love" kinda funny to me, but I just had to get a picture of our whole class including Mr. Fish.

Jeanne's Chandler

These are my Combo Classes at Jeanne's Chandler location. The first is my Combo 2 class. They are 3-4 that have completed Beg. Combo. They do Tap, Ballet, Tumbling, and a little Jazz. They are excellent tappers and love to be helpers. L-R: Makayla, Isabella, and Kaydence. The next are my Beg Combo girls. They are all new to dance and learning very quickly. They do Tap, Ballet, and Tumbling... and very very loud singing whenever possible! L-R: Bella, Kyla, Ellery, Kenna, Ivy, Brandi, and Madison. We are missing a few, but hopefully I will get a good class shot around Christmas.

This is my Beg. Combo class on Thurs. at Jeanne's Mesa location. L-R: Halle, Abby, and Mandi. Halle was very excited to match me as a witch and her little sister Mandi said, "Oh well Halle, at least my name matches Miss Whitney's mom!" I was cracking up when she said that!!! Abby was a fairy princess but "without my princess cown"... crown :) This class is small (we are missing Valerie in this pic) but they are halarious so we get along great!!!

Higher Ground Thurs

These are my Thursday morning Combo girls at Higher Ground Dance Studio. They are all pretty little so they were totally tuckered out by the end of the class- that's why they are sitting. As you can see, I had to bribe them with some Halloween treats to get them to sit still. Sorry that I didn't get a better picture... they are so so so cute when they all smile, so if anyone has a better picture please email it to me!!! L-R: Ella, Bristol, Cambree, Iris, Hannah, and Shalise. This is a very girly class, so I was not suprised to see so many fairies and princesses.... and Iris was a monkey even though her mom tried to convince her to be a princess! lol. Still SOOO cute.

Finishing Up Halloween Week

I know that many of you are still waiting to see pictures of your little ones. I just saved them all to my computer and looked through them... they are sooooo cute! But I have not slept since Friday night due to way too much fun at the DLG Halloween Sleepover (more to come) so I am going to bed and I PROMISE to finish posting all the darling pictures from this whole week and also my Tap Ties Collection pictures as soon as I get a chance. On another note, I am finishing up my November newsletter and birthday cards. I noticed that I only have 1 Nov. bday so far! I can think of at least 3 of my students whose bdays are in Nov so if you still have not gotten your "Parent Contact" & "All About Me Sheets" turned in, please do so ASAP. If your dancer's bday is in Nov and you don't have your original copies, please take a second to email me your dancer's name, class, and birthday so I can include her in the newsletter and make her bday card. I would hate for your dancer to feel left out!!!

Higher Ground Combo

These little ones are my Higher Ground Combo kids. They do Tap, Ballet, and some Tumbling. From left to right : Emma, Gracie, Reese (who was acutally just in for the day, but we love her) Denali, and Brinnley. I only have them for half an hour once a week... but they sure put a smile on my face!!! So many cute costumes. This is why I love Halloween- you can just dress up however your feeling!!!! like a princess or a witch. They are your kids so you know what I mean!

Ok here are the first of the Halloween Week pictures. This was at the Boo Bash at USA Youth Fitness Center where I teach dance and help with gym events. There were lots of awesome costumes, but unfortunately my batteries died in my camera about half way through the night! So, I'm sorry to all those I missed!

From top to bottom we have: Staff, the Face Painting Fairies, Olypmic Gymnast and Mr. T, and a shot I took from the observation deck. Hopefully I will get some pictures this week at USA to add!!!

Halloween Week!!!!!

Hello everyone!
I hope this finds you and your families well and looking forward to the holiday season. As many of you already know, Halloween is my favorite holiday to share with my students and I am excited to get this week rolling. I have been trying to find the time to get this blog started for what seems like a million years, so thanks for being so patient! I am happy to announce that I will be posting pictures all week from all of my classes, so be on the look out for your dancer. I just want to take a second and thank you all for sharing your kids with me. I love each one of them and look forward to seeing their smiling faces each week. Thank you for faithfully bringing them to class and being supportive of their learning. If you ever have anything that you want to add to this blog, please let me know.
